Sell or donate

Are you looking to reclaim space, or slim down your collection of records or CDs?

Do you find the idea of selling on eBay or Discogs time-consuming and impersonal?

Dream Street Records is always interested in music collections large or small that are in great resale condition.

Our aim is to put collectables and classics in the hands of new generations of music fans, while sustaining our unique shop as a LGBTQ+ community hub and live events space.

We stock all genres of pop from the 1950s to the present day. Our customers particularly like classic pop, rock and indie from the 80s and 90s; soul, funk and hip hop; and soundtracks, showtunes and cast recordings.

Crates of colourful vinyl records, a rack of CDs and a copy of The Face magazine with Grace Jones on the cover.

What we accept

  • Vinyl LPs, 12" and 7" singles, CDs and cassettes
  • Music magazines
  • Band t-shirts, tour programmes, posters & other memorabilia
  • LGBTQ-interest non-fiction books
  • Queer nightlife ephemera

We aim to pay fair prices for collections. We recommend that you consult the sold prices on Discogs and eBay to get a sense of how much individual items might fetch.

Discogs is the global marketplace, and the authority on the current value of specific pressings. Do also familiarise yourself with the Goldmine Gradings, the universally accepted method of grading records, which can significantly affect an item's value.

We recognise that more than just money goes into building music collections. Where we can, we aim to honour the passion and memories that they hold. We do this through our blog and in-store events programme when you sell or donate a collection to us.

Support our live events programme

If you are just happy seeing records go to a good home, then donating vinyl to Dream Street Records allows us to divert budget towards our live events programme, which means we can pay musicians and sound technicians a fair rate for their services.

Thank you to our supporters so far: Brian Alcock & family; Larry Kingsley & family; the Howard family; Simon Batchelar; and a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.
