Cate Merkin – A Love Letter to You

Cate Merkin is a multidisciplinary artist from mostly Philadelphia but has roots in the UK, Anguilla and now Michigan. She visits yearly to see her family in Brighton.

‘A Love Letter to You’, her debut record, is an unhinged avant-garde take on pop music. She worked with two producers, Aaron Sternick and Johnny Lancia to turn her acapella demos into boisterous tracks. Even ‘Piccolo Jones”, a track that is purely flute, started off as a vocal demo with written lyrics.

With a drag name derived from Kate Bush definitely expect the absurdism and good ol’ passion from this trans-art-pop-star.
