McAlmont & Butler – The Sound of McAlmont & Butler (30th Anniversary)

It's just over 30 years ago that former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler and ex-Thieves frontman David McAlmont unleashed the epic single Yes. With its instant-classic sound, augmented by soaring strings, it sounded unlike anything else at the time.

Released the following year, The Sound of McAlmont & Butler, essentially a compilation of the two lead singles and their various b-sides, was an beguiling mix of experimental songwriting and production from the two unlikely collaborators.

For this timely reissue, the album has been newly mastered from the original studio tapes – overseen by Bernard himself and undertaken by his longtime studio partner George Shilling.

This 30th anniversary 2LP edition has been pressed on double green & blue vinyl, while the 2CD version includes a second disc of demos and alternate mixes.

Join us on 23 October when David McAlmont will be our special guest in the shop. In the evening, he'll join us for an exclusive playback session & Q&A with Dream Street Records' owner, Rasheed Rahman.
